This lovely traditional Lakeland cottage is located in the scenic village of Glenridding, near the shores of Ullswater, and is surrounded by mountains. Everywhere you look there are breath-taking mountain views and glimpses of the lake. The magical wonder of the Lake District is on the doorstep!

Stybarrow Cottage was built at the end of the 19th century as a miners cottage for workers of Greenside Mine. As the history of Glenridding has evolved, so has the story of our cottage. In recent years its has been skillfully extended and planned to make great advantage of position and space, Refurbished and frequently updated, Stybarrow Cottage provides comfortable accommodation for up to 6 guests. A cosy haven combining tradition with modern living.
A Cosy Haven
We have been lucky enough to have owned Stybarrow Cottage since 2020. We take great pride in looking after the cottage ourselves, we deal with all enquiries and bookings personally, as well as ensuring the cottage offers tip top clean and comfortable accommodation. Its been our pleasure to have met some lovely guests and have many repeat customers.
Our cottage is located at the heart of the village of Glenridding. There are numerous walks from the cottage. Helvellyn and Striding Edge are easily accessible as are the High Street range. You will be spoilt for choice with an array of superb mountain walks. Plenty of opprtuniy to tick off a Wainwright. Or just savour the simple peace of a lakeshore stroll and meander the woodland and valley walks.
Situated only minutes away from the shores of Ullswater where you can enjoy trips on Ullswater Steamers, hire canoes or motor boats at St Patricks Boat Landing, or sign up for sailing tuition at Glenridding Sailing Centre. Even bring your own paddleboard or take a wild swim in the lake!
Ullswater EBikes is located in the nearby car park for those fancying hiring an Electric Bike for exploration of the trails.

And if your desire is a relaxing break Stybarrow Cottage offers the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy the timeless splendour of the lake district.
The Inn On The Lake, The Travellers Rest, The Ullswater Inn, Fellbites and Helvellyn Country Kitchen are all situated close by, offering a varied choice of refreshments as well as R and Rs Corner Shop and Glenridding Mini Market for provisions. Catstycam Outdoor Shop has an excellent range for outdoor enthusiasts. Park your car up on the private off road parking area and enjoy all Stybarrow Cottage has to offer from the doorstep!
